Bure - Promenade entre Ardenne et Famenne

From Grupont to Bure and from Bure to Grupont, the contrasting landscapes follow one another. Indeed, we are here on horseback between two geological regions: the Ardennes and the Famenne. As you cruise the streets of Grupont, you can admire the Saint-Denis church, the old mill "Colle" and the Spanish House. From La Croisette, you may see kites, buzzards or herons flying over Thiers de Bure Hill (northwest). After crossing the Lhomme, you will cross the Pont des Fornès. This wetland is a site undergoing rehabilitation, with irises, angelica, and water mint. This place is also the landmark of many birds, such as the Reed Warbler or the Great Spotted Woodpecker. At the top of the slope you will then enjoy a view overlooking the valley of Lhomme. Arriving at Bure, discover its old castle, which now houses a college, as well as the Saint-Lambert church and the fountains of the village. They are part of the remarkable heritage of this commune (find their characteristics in the Chemin des Bruyères). The landscape is also remarkable, notably at the place called "Al'Boteîlle". Be careful of the zone of passage to the Bois de Wève: it is very wet in rainy weather. From the Bois de Wève, the meadows and the groves contain interesting wildlife and botanical populations. Primroses, lanceolate plantin, St. John's wort, pimprenelle and globular will enhance your walk to Grupont.
